How do I use a pet dryer?
Sharing with another owner
We have good news: using a dog dryer is not that difficult. Phew! 😮💨 Still, it's best to proceed calmly. This way, it remains a pleasant experience for both you and your loyal Labradoodle.
But how do you use a dog dryer? And what are all those different attachments for? In this blog, you'll learn how to use a dog dryer and all its attachments in 4 steps.
Step 1: Dry your dog with the microfiber towel
Blow-drying a soaking wet dog will take a while. Therefore, first towel-dry your dog's coat with the microfiber towel to speed up drying time.
Step 2: Turn on and adjust
Turn on the dog dryer and set it to the wind speed and heat that seems best for your doodle. You can set the temperature between 35°C and 60°C.
Pay close attention to what your dog finds comfortable or uncomfortable. You can start at the lowest wind speed and temperature and gradually build up.
Step 3: Start blasting!
Point the dog dryer at the coat and move it slowly back and forth. Don't blow too long in the same spot. That's not pleasant for your doodle.
You can use different attachments for different body parts. You can keep the attachment at a distance or insert it deep into the coat, depending on the area you want to blow dry.
4 types of attachments:
|
Wide flat attachmentWith the wide nozzle, you distribute the heat evenly over a large area. Ideal for drying the coat after a wash. |
|
Flat attachmentWith the flat nozzle, you can dry parts of the coat quickly and easily. Ideal, for example, for drying paws after a walk in the woods. |
|
Round attachmentWith the round nozzle, you can make the coat beautifully fluffy and create volume. |
|
Finger attachmentWith the fingers, you can beautifully style the coat at the end of the drying session. |
Step 4: Check for knots
Blow in the direction of the coat and gently comb through the hair to remove knots. Important: only start combing when the coat is dry.
2 extra tips
- Do not blow directly into the eyes. This causes irritation and an unpleasant feeling.
- Cover your doodle's ear canal with your hand when drying their ears.
